DofE Silver Expedition success

Nineteen Year 10 students have completed their Duke of Edinburgh’s Silver Award practice expedition with three days’ walking and two days camping in the Clitheroe and Bowland area of Lancashire.

Students worked together in teams of six or seven, planning and navigating their own routes, carrying their own tents and food for the three days, pitching their own tents, cooking their own evening meals and supporting each other as a team. This was a real step up for all of us as it was the school’s first ever Silver Award expedition after several successful years at the Bronze Award level.

The students rose to the challenge superbly and they are now reviewing their experience, ready for their qualifying expedition in July. Meanwhile, 52 Year 9 students are preparing for their DofE Bronze expeditions in June.
