Year 9 (pictured) continued their undefeated run in the league with an impressive 3-2 win against Westhoughton, winning the league with a game to go and ensuring promotion to the top division. Sharples were dominant throughout and immediately started the game in control. Abdul fired Sharples into the lead with a superb strike into the corner after good work from Yusuf. Sharples then doubled their lead when Yusuf squeezed the ball past the defenders and goalkeeper when Westhoughton struggled to clear the ball from a corner. Sharples should have been out of sight by half time and nearly paid the price for missed opportunities when Westhoughton scored just before the interval and then equalised early into the second half. The team reacted in a fantastic way but struggled to find the finishing touch to excellent build up play. Yusuf stepped up when the team needed him and fired into the top corner from 25 yards out, scoring the goal of the season and sealing a win, promotion and the league cup in the process. A fantastic finish to an incredible season for the team!
