The performance of the week came from the Year 9 football team against Little Lever. After exiting the Bolton Cup in their last game, the team were looking to bounce back and continue their unbeaten run in the League. Sharples were missing a number of key players and brought in Rob, Cole, Abdur and Tom from Year 8. All 4 younger students showed great confidence to play against older and bigger opposition and weren’t phased by the challenge in front of them.
It was a fantastic contest and the squad showed great character and discipline to battle in difficult conditions and come out with a narrow 2-1 victory. Abdur and Rowan linked up well and both registered a goal and an assist each. Joe, Josh and Harley in goal were absolutely immense at the back and performed some heroic defending in the later stages of the game to secure the 3 points for the team.
