Year 11 (pictured above) had their first match of the season, last Friday, against St Catherine’s Academy in the Bolton Cup. Sharples looked a bit rusty in the first half and went into the interval one nil down despite creating numerous chances on the counter attack. Sharples pressed for an equaliser from the start and Harvey K was fouled in the box, he calmly stepped up and converted his penalty to bring the score level. Harvey was on the spot once again soon after, this time from a free kick 25 yards out to give Sharples the lead. St Catherine’s pressed for an equaliser and somehow managed to head the ball over the bar from 2 yards out with 3 minutes to go. This proved to be the turning point when Josh B latched onto a through ball and slotted the ball into the bottom corner to fire Sharples into the quarter final against Canon Slade.
