Football (Year 9 Boys)

Year 9 had to wait a long time before their Bolton Cup quarter final against Turton School kicked off. It was always going to be a difficult game against one of the Town favourites. Sharples were very competitive from the start and it was clear that the team were up for the challenge. In difficult conditions, Sharples challenged the first and second balls well but were caught on the break and found themselves one nil down. The team responded in the best possible way and Turton found themselves on the back foot with Ben Jackson having a goal disallowed. In addition, Sam Johnston saw his penalty saved just before the interval. Sharples pressed for an equaliser in the second half with Haruna twice going close but Turton capitalised on some sloppy play to extend their lead further. With the team searching to pull a goal back Sharples were caught on the break with the final score line not being a true reflection of the game. Overall, an excellent effort from the team who will be back in action next week against St Catherine’s Academy.
