Year 9 Netball Team Secure 3rd Place at the Bolton Schools Tournament

A huge well done to our Year 9 netball team who took part in the Bolton schools netball tournament on Tuesday evening. The girls showcased some of the best netball they have played all year. Macey Owen played brilliantly at centre throughout, with Cherie Ufuoma receiving girl of the game for every match she played. The group stage consisted of 6 games with Sharples winning all but 1 match. They were victorious over Canon Slade B, Harper Green, Smithills, St Joseph’s and Bolton St Catherine’s which ensured they came runners-up of their group, securing a semi-final place. After a closely fought game and a valiant effort against a strong Canon Slade A team, the girls narrowly missed out on the final, losing 11-6. Canon Slade went on to win the tournament; Sharples finished 3rd overall. Making the semi-finals out of 14 schools across the borough is a fantastic achievement and we are very proud of the squad, which consisted of: Cherie Ufuoma (c), Jenna Clarke, Macey Owen, Connie Oliver, D’Arcy Kay, Chloe Jackson, Lily-Anne Crompton, Ella Malloy and Aimee Rose Matthews. Brilliant effort, girls!
