On Monday night, our Year 7s took on Eden Boys in a league game. Sharples scored early on to get a 1-0 lead but only 5 minutes later Eden struck back with an equaliser. It was a very close and hard fought first half where Sharples just couldn’t regain their lead. In the second half, Sharples came out flying through the sheer excellence of captain Farran Swailes as he ran through the entire team to slot the ball home and put Sharples back in front. Farran was unstoppable after that, emulating the goal again twice more and getting his hat trick. Cole added to the scoreline and Sharples went on to win the game in convincing style, 5-1.
On Tuesday night, our Year 7s entered a futsal tournament at Smithills. Sharples got off to a good start winning one match and drawing another. In the final league game, Sharples were narrowly beaten 1-0, resulting in us being in the 3rd place play off. The game went down to the wire as both teams couldn’t find a way to score, so penalties decided the game. Unfortunately, we were beaten on penalties and finished 4th.
